Setting up a Home-Based Childcare Business
Childminding is an interesting and rewarding career, offering the chance to make a difference in children’s education and development whilst working from home as your own boss.
To become a registered childminder, you will need to hold a Level 3 or above in Childcare & Education. You will also need to have worked with children under the age of five within the past two years. If you do not have the required qualification, this ‘Setting up a Home-Based Childcare Business Course’ is approved by Ofsted as part of Ofsted registration.
The course is delivered by the Westminster City Council and Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea Early Years Advisory Team. Interested parties will initially attend a ‘Childminder information session’ and subsequent ‘EYFS/assessment session,’ both of which are free. Successful applicants will then be invited to the ‘Setting up a Home-Based Childcare Business Course’. The current cost of the course is £100 and consists of eight weekly sessions of two and a half hours.
