Funding for Construction Training and Apprenticeships
CITB (Construction Industry Training Board) is the statutory body responsible for training in the construction sector in England, Wales and Scotland.
Skills and Training Fund
The Skills and Training Fund provides funding to help construction companies train and upskill their employees. Up to £10,000 is available for construction firms with less than 100 employees, while firms with between 100 and 250 employees can apply for up to £25,000.
Short course grants
CITB provides grants for the achievement of approved short courses, which last from three hours to 29 days. The courses must be focused on core construction skills needed across the sector. The amount of funding available depends on the duration and content of the course.
Apprenticeship grants
CITB runs a range of programmes that help fund apprenticeships. Funding is available for:
- New apprentices.
- Higher and degree-level apprentices.
- Intermediate and advanced apprentices.
- Advanced payment of apprenticeship attendance grants for second and third-year apprenticeships, along with higher apprentices in their final year.
