Cybersecurity and Watering Hole Attacks

London Business Hub is providing advice and information to help businesses and the self-employed work safely during COVID-19. This week, we provide advice and tips on watering hole attacks and COVID vaccine scams.

Watering hole attacks

Watering hole attacks work by identifying a website that a business or sector frequently visits. That website is then compromised to enable malware to be distributed to visitors. The Police Digital Security Centre (PDSC) has published guidance to help protect your business from being targeted with malware.

COVID vaccine scams

Cybercriminals are abusing the COVID vaccine rollout to send fraudulent emails, texts and calls asking individuals to book their vaccines in order to collect personal and financial information. The Metropolitan Police Service has published a short video to help businesses and employees spot COVID vaccine scams.

The Police Digital Security Centre has also put together an overview of the support and training opportunities available from the Metropolitan Police Service Cyber Crime Unit.
